From the Columbus Dispatch: "Ohio voters will decide in May whether a Columbus casino can move to the West Side.
The Ohio House took final action today to place on the May 4 primary ballot an issue that would allow Penn National Gaming Inc. to change the location of its casino from the Arena District to the former Delphi Corp. auto-parts plant, a 123-acre site on the West Side. The move can occur if a new constitutional amendment is approved by the statewide vote.
Business and city officials are concerned that the current Arena District location, which was built into the Ohio Constitution through the passage of state Issue 3 in November, does not mesh with the family-friendly atmosphere of the redeveloped entertainment area.
Meanwhile, supporters of the move say the West Side badly needs the jobs that a casino would create, and it would turn an abandoned manufacturing plant into a vibrant business. ... Rep. Ted Celeste, D-Grandview Heights, said the resolution 'represents an incredible effort by the community' to work out an agreement on the move. Penn National officials said the move would allow them to begin construction more quickly."
